Alexis Truitt is a program manager at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA). She focuses on space situational awareness research, partnering across the NSG to better characterize space objects in difficult regimes. Alexis previously served as the deputy lead and senior staff scientist of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Research directorate Space pod. Alexis joined NGA in 2012 as a thermal imagery scientist in the Analysis directorate.
She is the recipient of the 2019 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) award and the 2017 Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Science & Technology Fellowship. Prior to joining NGA, Alexis served as a scientist at NASA’s Space Telescope Science Institute, supporting operations for the Hubble Space Telescope and the Kepler Space Telescope. Alexis obtained two BS degrees in Physics and Astronomy from University of Maryland College Park, a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from University of Maryland College Park.
